I have found the 40 grit belts work much better using minimal force. Material removal is still good, but the deep cuts are eliminated making final grinds easier and more pleasing. Also, pressing hard on initial grinds the belts seem to tear and pop apart. A full speed 40 grit belt flying at you does a fair amount of damage to any body part in its path.
