Well…this is kind of a poor review because I haven’t actually put the belt to use yet. My problem being the guard on my grinder is too close to the drive wheel…the belt is pretty thick. I haven’t returned the belt because it is excellent quality so I plan to modify my guard to allow the belt to work. All the other belts I have are from Combat, and they are great… I don’t believe this belt will be any different.
So I used both of these great abrasive products; the very flexible 400 belt for tuning in the handle the medium abrasive for tuning in the blade, the finishing belt. Great stuff, man.
Now that I have all four belts, I can take a decarb buildup, knife, and break it down very quickly to four simple steps..,.to a beautiful looking knife. Very helpful as well after the final oven tempering steps, love these things, man.
CA's belts are used throughout my BBQ Shank Set builds, but where they really stand out is when I use the conditioning belts on the old saw mill blades I use for making the knives. The conditioning belts polish enough to clean them up while leaving the character marks on the old blades. They create the exact look I'm going for!
First time using these and they saved me a ton of time. I had a deadline and couldn’t possibly hand sand this blade. These belts made it happen! Thanks for great products
Had been using a 1” belt but the 2” belt is much easier to control the work. I found that my knives are much more sharp with the fine belt and they literally drop through a sheet of paper.
Im fairly new with a belt sander but using the amazon belts then trying these combat belts is a world of differance these combat belts are truely night and day from amazon belts do yourselves a favor and make the change to combat you will not be disappointed
These are a little tight, so perhaps not exactly 42", just a tad under, but serviceable. On the plus side though, all four make an excellent pattern in the steel. As they wear out, I will definitely be replacing them with the same exact pieces from Combat Abrasives.
