The 1″ x 30″ sander earns its keep as a sharpening and finishing machine — and this is its ammunition. Aluminum-oxide belts from 40 through 800 grit, priced so a full ladder costs less than a single premium 2x72 belt.
X-weight is the standard backing for platen work; J-Flex flexes for slack-belt contours on handles and curved edges.

Step one or two grits at a time — 120 → 180 → 220 → 320 → 400 → 600 → 800. Skipping grits wastes the finer belt and the finish.

Best sharpening progression?
Most sharpeners climb 220 → 400 → 600 → 800, then strop on leather. Start coarser only if the edge is damaged.

Why so much cheaper than ceramic?
Aluminum oxide is the right-priced grain for fine grits — premium grains stop mattering past ~120 grit.
Ladders are cheap. Dull knives are not.

GREAT PRODUCT
Really great belts for a 1x30. They hold up better than the hf belts I bought with the sander.
We first bought cheaper bands from Harbor Freight. The thing is they are not that much cheaper. We upgraded to live like the rich people for only like a dollar more. Frankly, I like living like the rich people with my cheap 1x30 grinder. What a huge upgrade. We are saving for a 2x72 and I know where I will be buying my belts from, thanks Combat Abrasives!
Combat Abrasives belts are far superior to bargain belts I have purchased. No "bump" when sanding as the joints are flush, the abrasion is superior, and the belts are longer lasting. The J-flex belts are fantastic for getting into the curves in my knives. No other belt can do this. It is an important innovation for my work. Thanks!
I use these to sharpen my blades work great love the verity
These are great belts. Far superior than the ones I got from a well known freight tool store. A few licks on a whet stone and my blades are shaving sharp. All the belts I bought are great. I will always buy from Combat for my 1x30 belts. This one is really good and no more bump, bump, bump where the belt is spliced.

Great for sharpening knives
I’ve been primarily using these for establishing a basic edge on my knives. I go from there to a ceramic rod and a strop and get razor sharp edges easily. Very happy with them.

Works well for roughing in my edge
Just finishing up the handle with the j-flex 400 . Makes getting into those rounded areas easy and can’t get these in 1x30 anywhere else .Great product !
