This kit is the Shredder ceramic line’s core four grits in working quantity. Ceramic grain continuously renews its cutting edges as it fractures, cutting faster and cooler on steel and stainless — and this kit gives you six belts at each step so the sequence never stalls.
The included Greasestick keeps belts cutting cooler and extends their life.
Contents
What’s included — and when to use it
6 × 36 grit Shredder
Initial bevels and aggressive shaping.
6 × 60 grit Shredder
The all-round workhorse for bevel grinding.
6 × 80 grit Shredder
Refining bevels before finer work.
6 × 120 grit Shredder
Post-heat-treat grinding and the bridge to finishing belts.
1 × Greasestick Tube
Belt lubricant — cooler cutting, longer belt life.
Why the sequence matters
Never jump far between grits. Go 36 → 60 → 80 → 120. Jump from 36 straight to 120 and you’ll destroy the 120 belt almost immediately — the fine grain can’t remove deep 36-grit scratches without overloading.
Skipping also wrecks the finish: excess loading and pressure generate heat that can burn and tarnish the steel. The one skip that’s acceptable: 36 to 60 (skipping 40/50). Beyond that, step through.
Each grit removes the previous grit’s scratches — that’s the whole system, and it’s why this kit carries six belts of each step.

Technical details
The deeper dive
Belt construction
Self-fracturing ceramic grain on Y-weight polyester backing — the same belts as our Ceramic Shredder 3-packs. Grits in this kit (36–120) can be run wet.
Machine fit
Standard 2″ x 72″ belts for Burr King, Bader, Wilton, AMK, Ameribrade and similar grinders.
Twenty-four 2″ x 72″ Ceramic Shredder belts — six each of 36, 60, 80 and 120 grit — plus one Greasestick Tube.
Will these fit my grinder?
Standard 2″ x 72″ belts. Confirm your machine’s spec before ordering.
Why six of each grit?
A working quantity: enough of every step that your sequence doesn’t stall when one grit wears out mid-project.
Can I skip grits to save belts?
Only 36 → 60. Bigger jumps destroy the finer belt and risk burning the steel — the sequence is the saving.
What’s the Greasestick for?
It’s a belt lubricant: applied to the running belt it reduces heat and extends belt life.
What do I use after 120 grit?
Move to the A/O Finishing & Sharpening belts (150–800 grit), then the leather strop.
One box, a complete grinding system
Twenty-four Shredders across the four grits that do the real work — plus the Greasestick to make them last. Rated 4.9★ by 291 customers. Free shipping included (order is over $99).
Great belts. I love the shredder kit. I'm not a knife maker but a garage fabricator so these are what I need to shape a tab or gusset with the quickness and then slap on another quality belt and clean it up. Only place ill ever go for belts and shipping is quick!!!!

Combat belts on my brand new Ameribrade! Can you think of a better combo? The Shredder starter pack is a fantastic restock option for newcomers or pros who need a wide variety of belts at a competitive price.
I always use Combat Abrasives for my Ameritrade 2x72, 3 HP, belt sander. I make 1095/15n20 Damascus here in my home shop. These belts out last other brands I've tried. The 36 is a must for heavy cleaning of forging scale and the 60, 80, and 120 belts are essential for grinding my blades before the etching process!! Thank you for offering the Shredder kit!! You get 6 of each and if you catch on a holiday the discount is well worth it!! Thank you for the exceptional 2x72 Belts!!
Sincerely,

I love the Combat Abrasive Belts. They are hardworking and are long lasting. My recent order was received with the cleaning compound melted and rehardened over three of the belts. I live in Florida and it has been hot and I understand that trucks are not air conditioned. Perhaps a solution would be to put the conditioner in a plastic bag so that if the conditioner melts, it will be contained and not coat the belts in the box.
This was my second order of a kit from CA. The first kit included some jflex and other belts in addition to a couple of the Shredder belts. I used the first kit for several knife blades and handles.
I ordered the Shredder kit to have extra for when my original belts got too worn and to have extra intermediate grits. Glad I did because the Shredder kit's 120 grit was grittier than the years old 36 grit I was attempting to grind out another knife with. The speed difference was quite noticeable (amazing actually). Lesson learned for me. Retire belts quicker.
Now that I have a base of the Shredders, I can order just the grit that I'm down to one or two belts of.
Very nice belts! Would’ve never thought to buy the grease, but it makes the belts work much better. Just starting smithing and pictured above is my first knife 90% done!
My first 2 x 72. Amazed at the power of this machine and these belts! I’ve used Combat Abrasives before when I had a 1 x 30. Loved those belts. Very quick material removal! Will buy Combat Abrasives again!!!!
Thanks Combat!

Just hollow ground 12 blades with the starter package sequence. 36, 60, 80, 120. (Annealed 3/16” 15n20.)
The 36 is mostly shot, the 60 is useable but getting inconsistent, the 80 is good, and the 120 is still like new.
My evaluation of their condition after doing 12 grinds is based on handholding against my 14” contact wheel on my lower (fixed) speed 2x72. I use the resistance of the grit to hold consistent position on the wheel.
36 lost quite a bit of grit on initial contact, but then cut great through about blade 10. By blade 12 it was difficult to hold steady.
Consistent progression like that on the 60, 80, then to the 120 grit, which is still rock steady after finishing all 12.
I’d say if you double your number of 36’s in the starter pack, they’ll wear out about the same time.
Overall, very good belts. Not magic. But I’m 12 blades in and I’ve still got life in the first set!
I’ll take that any day!
Will buy again!
These belts are fantastic! They don’t stop cutting for a long, long time and they’re really durable. My shop gets up to 100+ degrees in the summer and close to 0 in the winter, and these belts just powered through with no issues. Also, more on the company than the belts, but I had an issue with the last batch of belts that I got and they replaced them, no questions asked. In my opinion, these are just about the best belts you can get anywhere, and I’m not buying anything else!
Fantastic belts! I’ve used them and used them and used them and they just don’t quit. I’ve had this batch for almost a year and they’ve made tons of knives. When they’re sharp they’re amazing, and they stay sharp for a really, really long time. When they’re not sharp, you can almost just use them as the next grit up! Excellent!
I’ve been using Combat Abrasives pretty much exclusively for about a year or so. If you’re an experienced knife maker you know this, but for those new to it, belts are one of the most important things in your shop. Whether you’re a forge guy or stock removal specialist, about 80% of the work in making a knife is done at the grinder. The quality of your belts matters. A lot.
Combat Abrasives are the best belts I’ve ever used. Their ceramic shredders are outstanding. They make the work of profiling and establishing the bevels go quickly, they don’t load up, they last a long time and run cool. I’ve also used their higher grit belts up to 600, and the structured abrasives, blending belts and scalloped edge belts for handle work. They’re all great - indispensable, really. Service is fast and the prices are more than fair. Do yourself a big favor and try Combat. You won’t be sorry.
Started with 36 grit shredder and worked my way up to 600 grit. Took about two hours. Then I hand polished to 1200 grit. This is my first Damascus blade. Could not have done it with out the shredder belts.
As a serious part time Blade Smith, I have used Combat Abrasives Shredder belts exclusively. I've tried all the major brands and keep coming back for more! Please see attached pic of a knife I made using Shredder belts. Thank you, Bob Earhart owner, Bob Earhart Knives
Combat Abrasives Shredder belts EAT metal like no other belts on the market hands down! I come from the aerospace pans have used many top brand abrasives but these are the absolute best!
I bought this sanding kit for my son, who is a knife maker at "Holbert Iron Works Llc" He tells me that he is completely pleased with their performance, and will be purchasing more from you.
I had called to check on the order, and was greater by a friendly knowledgeable human without first incurring an automated answering system. Thank you so much, it was money well spent!!~*
