Non-woven belts are fibrous instead of coated — so they clean, blend, deburr and finish steel, stainless and aluminum without the loading and heat build-up of a regular sanding belt. That’s why they last long and leave consistent, uniform finishes in fewer steps.
They’re the belt for erasing imperfections, blending scratch patterns into a satin look, and prepping surfaces — on stainless, aluminum, titanium, fiberglass, plastics and nonferrous alloys.

Four grades, four colors
Grit equivalents are practical guidelines from our and our customers’ experience — non-woven material is not officially grit-rated.
Coarse (Brown) — $27.51
Approx. 40–60 grit scratch pattern. Removes real material — use a lighter hand.
Medium (Maroon) — $26.67
Approx. 80–120 grit scratch pattern. The all-round cleanup and blending grade.
Stock removal or shaping — use ceramic Shredder belts
Precise grit-spec finishing — equivalents are approximate
Stropping — use the Leather Belt
Getting a clean, even finish
1. Use light to moderate pressure — the fiber does the work. Go lighter still on Coarse, which can remove significant material.
2. Follow the sequence: Coarse → Medium → Very Fine → Ultrafine.
3. Keep the work moving to avoid dwell marks and keep the finish uniform.
4. These belts run long — reduced loading means far more working time than a coated belt of similar cost.

The fibrous web resists loading and heat build-up, so the belt keeps cutting consistently instead of glazing — longer working life and repeatable finishes.
Backing and detail work
A reinforced scrim backing keeps the belt stable, while the material can still shape and form for detail and edge work.

I love these conditioning belts as they can take a 90% look and make it perfect. When I do projects that are production-oriented, like this one where I made 12 knives for a wedding groom's gift, it was a pleasure being able to do a dusted finish using the fine conditioning belt.

the three belts I got medium, fine and extra fine have saved me so much sanding it is amazing. I usually use them on the flats of the knives unless it is a total flat grind and then on the whole thing.
Using these belts raises the finish on my blades to the next level. As a rule I don't do hand sanding. I produce a more historical forged blade that a local blacksmith might provide for a local rural village that usually sells at Renaissance Festivals and craft shows. But these belts d raise even these blades to the next level. And they are now part of my standard process going forward.

quality product
I like surface conditioning belts especially for the ease of putting on a fairly nice finish on a blade without the headache of hand sanding. When new these things really shine. I have seen many knife makers talk about how long they last but I have not seen that in my own shop. I don't know if I always get rejected belts but they never seem to last very long. Even had one just explode on me after just a couple of blades. I will still use them because the idea of hand sanding a camp chopper to 1000 grit is just not cost effective unless the customer requests it. They do a great job at what they were designed for and I love them for that. Its just I have yet to experience the longevity that others claim. Could be just me though.
I bought the surface conditioning kit. I only used the coarse and then the medium after 220 grit on this chef knife. No need for hand sanding. I can’t live without them.
Works like a champ. I use the fine and extra fine belts to put the final finish on my blades. This is a bird and trout, 3 3/4" drop point blade.
Steel is 3/32"1084 steel treated with distilled vinegar for a rust resistant finish.
The scales are Hawthorne with mahogany stain. Sold after 2 weeks on Etsy.
